HCBU 2018 Ph.D. Badminton League
On November 17th, the 2018 Ph.D. Badminton League of HCBU kicked off at Beihang Stadium. A total of five teams with more than 40 students participated in the competition, including three teams from the doctoral class, the undergraduate junior and senior joint team, andthe faculty-alumni joint team.
At 2 p.m., the Deputy Dean Han Yu announced the start of the competition. The competition consisted of three individual events (male, mixed double, women's singles), a team match and several fun games. The individual event adopted the single round robin system by random selection, with the winner of each group got the chance to compete for the championship. Each individual event and group match results were accumulated as group points and formed the group ranking. Participants all struggled hard and fought tenaciously, showing a high level of competition. The judges and student volunteers were also responsible for their duties to ensure the smooth progress of the game.
After more than three hours of fierce competition, the Ph.D. team of class 2017 won the team champion, with the alumni joint-team, and undergraduate joint-team ranked second and third respectively. The winner of men’s doubles went to Sun Shanyue and He Lingrui from undergraduate joint-team, while the champion of the mixed doubles went to Quan Fengnan and Wangwei from the Ph.D. team of class 2016. The winner of women’s singles went to Li Simeng from undergraduate joint-team.
At the end of the competition, Deputy Dean Han Yu presented the awards to the winning teams and individuals and took photos with all the participants. This competition not only provided a platform for badminton enthusiasts to show themselves and learn from each other, but also promoted cooperation and communication between students, indicating a high level of competition, and reflecting the positive and fighting spirit of HCBU students.
